Teaching the Holocaust summer school 22-24 August 2016
An intensive three day programme for post-primary teachers that address the complex subject of the Holocaust and how to teach it in the Irish classroom. The course considers the historical context of the Holocaust, pedagogic challenges, cross-curricular perspectives and interdisciplinary approaches.
The historical context and development of the HolocaustTeachers of History, RE, English, CSPE, Drama, German and other European languages, Mathematics, Music, Sports and Transition Year have all benefitted from participation in this programme, presented by international Holocaust educators.
- Teaching the Holocaust to Junior and Senior Cycle
- Choosing and using age appropriate resources
- Methodologies and Lesson Plans for the classroom
- Participants will draw together a comprehensive portfolio of resources by the end of the course
This programme can be taken independently or as part of the Certificate in Holocaust Education awarded by Trinity College Dublin
