Holocaust Memorial Day 2013

2013’s national Holocaust Memorial day took place on Sunday, 27 January 2013 in the Mansion House, Dublin.

The keynote address was given by the former Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence, Alan Shatter, TD.  Dr Steve Katz, advisor to the IHRA and Ms Máire Whelan, Attorney General gave readings at the commemoration.

The National Holocaust Memorial Day commemoration takes place on the Sunday nearest to the 27 January every year. It is attended by people from all walks of Irish life. It cherishes the memory of those who perished, honours the survivors and teaches the lessons of the Holocaust to future generations. Candles are lit for the six million Jews who perished as well as all of the other victim groups. The ceremony takes 80 minutes and this is an 8 minute clip.
