Holocaust Memorial Day 2012

2012’s national Holocaust Memorial commemoration took place on Sunday, 29 January 2012.

The President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins gave the keynote address. Holocaust survivors Zoltan Zinn-Collis, Jan Kaminski, Suzi Diamond and Tomi Reichental gave readings.

The National Holocaust Memorial Day commemoration takes place on the Sunday nearest to the 27 January every year. It is attended by people from all walks of Irish life. It cherishes the memory of those who perished, honours the survivors and teaches the lessons of the Holocaust to future generations. Candles are lit for the six million Jews who perished as well as all of the other victim groups. The ceremony takes 80 minutes and this is a 8 minute clip.
