The Holocaust Narrative
The Holocaust Narrative is a new presentation introduced by HETI in 2015. It is an interactive 90-minute presentation for senior cycle students.
The workshop is cross-curricular, allowing participants from various disciplines to benefit. Teachers of Transition Year, CSPE, History, English, Music, RE, languages and others will find approaches suitable for their specific subjects. Images, readings, testimonies and materials are included. Ideally, there should be time for questions and discussion afterwards.
Aims and Objectives
Learning with understanding. Only by understanding the context in which the Holocaust took place, can we begin to understand what was wiped away. Two-thirds of the Jewish population of Europe was murdered as well as hundreds of thousands of other victims. What was Europe like for Jews before the Holocaust? And what happened to the survivors afterwards? Who were the Righteous Among the Nations? What role did bystanders play? Did antisemitism stop with the end of the war? Find out if there was any resistance to the Nazis?
We ask for €125 to cover administration costs and your presenter’s travel expenses. Many schools also like to make a donation to our work which is very much appreciated.
